An Oven Shy of Bread

This thick and filling oatmeal is packed full of beneficial whole grains and fiber. It makes a great base for butter, nut butters, jams, or syrups; or make a warm savory grains bowl by stirring in bouillion or cheddar cheese.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup oatmeal
  • 1 cup water
  • a pinch of salt
  • 1 tbsp dry oatmeal (adds a chewy texture)
  • 1 tbsp oat flour
  • 1 tbsp ground flax seed
  • 2 tsp psyllium husk powder

Instructions

  1. Combine 1 cup water, 1/2 cup oatmeal, and salt, and cook in the microwave.
  2. Stir in remaining ingredients and let sit a few minutes. Mixture will thicken.
  3. Add desired toppings and eat!
